Variety, the children’s charity, will be hitting Australian roads again this August when over 100 hilariously-themed cars and crews take part in the 2008 Variety Bash.
The popular motoring event is the single, largest fundraising event on the charity organisation’s calendar, taking the Variety message to communities all over the country and raising much-needed funds for Special Needs Children in the process.
Entrants in this year’s Variety Bash will depart Melbourne’s Moonee Valley Racecourse on 14 August and travel an eight-day course through central New South Wales and into the heart of Queensland’s outback, then back over to the Central Queensland Coast to enjoy a two-day finale celebration at Rydges Capricorn Resort in Yeppoon (near Rockhampton).
Variety CEO Norm Hutton said the event was accessible to people from all walks of life and Variety welcomed both private and corporate team entries.
“It’s an outrageous event involving a fleet of wildly-themed cars and heaps of good-natured fun… Bashers can even be fined for taking things too seriously!” Mr Hutton said.
“A host of organised and spontaneous events, along with fantastic entertainment throughout the journey enhance the great community spirit and camaraderie the Bash engenders in all its participants.
“By the end of each event everyone has made plenty of new friends, enjoyed catching up with friends from the previous events is always talking about what they’re going to do for the following year’s Bash!”
So, if you’re dreaming of escaping Melbourne’s winter chill, travelling the picturesque route through Victoria’s wine region, taking in the spectacular scenery of the Australian outback or playing a round or two of golf or going fishing in Central Queensland – all in the name of a great cause – then buckle up for the Variety Bash!
