Entering its second year, Honda’s alliance with the Australian Volunteer Coast Guard Association (AVCGA) continues to strengthen.
The mutually-beneficial partnership further demonstrates Honda’s active involvement in the Australian community and reinforces the AVCGA’s commitment to protecting boaters and the marine environment.
AVCGA National Commodore Chris Gillett said flotillas around the country had been quick to realise the benefits of Honda four-stroke technology.
“Flotillas using Honda outboards have reported fuel savings of 40 to 50 per cent over conventional two-stroke motors,” Mr Gillett said.
“The superior torque of Honda engines makes towing other vessels much easier, they also operate significantly quieter than other engines, and Honda’s renowned engine durability means maintenance costs are comparatively low.
“Honda’s world-leading environmental performance also provides piece of mind for our flotillas, many of which operate in some of the world’s most pristine marine environments.”
Dedicated to assisting the AVCGA carry out its commendable work, Honda has established favourable supply channels through its national dealer network to ensure the search and rescue organisation is always ready to attend any emergency.
Despite the engines often being subjected to excessively harsh use, due to the inherent nature of the AVCGA’s work, Mr Gillett said they’d had no reported problems.
“That sort of confidence-instilling reliability, combined with advanced engine technologies that excel in both low-down torque and high-speed scenarios, is paramount to any organisation on which the lives of others depend.
“Our experience has proven only Honda delivers it.”
The AVCGA is comprised entirely of volunteers. It has nearly 150 radio bases around the country under the control of more than 75 flotillas, over 100 rescue vessels and 32 communication and display vans.
Serving the boating public for close to 50 years, the AVCGA has returned thousands of stranded or lost boaters safely home to their loved ones and will continue to do so with the support of Honda and the public.
