The Australian Paralympic Committee (APC) is the peak national body responsible for Australia’s elite athletes with a disability.
Respected as a leading Paralympic sporting organisation – with offices in New South Wales, Queensland, Victoria, South Australia, ACT and Tasmania – the APC is also well represented internationally.
The International Paralympic Committee vision “to enable Paralympic athletes to achieve sporting excellence and inspire and excite the world” is, through mandate, the APC vision.
Australia has participated in the Paralympic Summer Games since the first Games in Rome in 1960 and in the Paralympic Winter Games since their inception in 1976.
The Australian Paralympic Team’s competitiveness and medal success is admirable, with the team winning a record 149 medals at the Sydney 2000 Paralympic Games.
